| Please post your favorite directions for getting to Burlington. Here are mine…
Albany to Burlington:
I have had a lot of arguments over this one. I have tried many different routes
over the years, and I am still convinced this is the one. I estimate travel
to be about 2.5hrs using this route, driving within 10 miles of the speed limit.
From Albany, take I-87 North to Exit 20 (Lake George)
Turn Left onto Route 9/149 and take 149 East to Fort Anne
Turn Left onto Route 4 and travel East to Fair Haven, VT
Turn Left onto Route 22A and travel North to Vergennes
Turn Left onto Route 7 and travel north to Burlington
I know there are many ways to stray off this course from Glens Falls to Rutland,
but this has always been quickest for me by a good 20 minutes…unless it
happens to be Americade weekend in Lake George (6/6-11, 2005), then take exit
19 on I-87 and hook up with Route 22 that will bring you to Route 4 in Fort
Anne.
Montreal to Burlington:
The hardest part is not ending up in New York State or Sherbrooke. If you haven't
made one of these mistakes at some point in your life, you probably haven't
been to Montreal very much.
From Downtown Montreal (Centerville), make your way to the Champlain Bridge
(Pont Champlain) which is also Route 10/15/20
Do NOT follow initial signs to the United States, as these will lead you to
New York
Instead, follow Route 10 (East) to Route 35 (if you miss Route 35 you will head
to Sherbrooke)
Take Route 35 to Route 133 (if you miss Route 133, you will head to New York
State)
Route 133 turns into I-89 at the U.S. border
Follow I-89 for 30min to Burlington
Total travel time is about 90min.
