Most people are now aware that Verizon Wireless is making a bid to buy Unicel (Rural Cellular) in Vermont and 14 other states in the early part of 2008.
If this acquisition goes through, it means several things for vermonters...you will have to throw away your Unicel Cell Phone because it will cease to work when Verizon closes off Unicels GSM network. You will have to buy a phone that works only on Verizon.
Next, forget about your free incoming calls for $5.00 extra a month as well as unlimited service. Any contracts that you have with Unicel will be cancelled by Verizon because they have no responsibility to honor contracts that Unicel made with you.
